Stipe Miocic already has a new opponent ... and be someone no one expected. After an injury force the output of Junior Dos Santos, Fabio Maldonado has accepted the invitation to replace him in the event 3 Finale TUF Brazil next May 31 in Sao Paulo , Brazil .
Despite the short notice , Maldonado insisted that the fight was 5 rounds and not 3 as originally offered it to the UFC. This is what I said in a recent interview for Combat:
Fabio Maldonado : " I live to be a heavyweight . I asked Pat Barry fights conta , Roy Nelson , Mark hunt , a great fight. I've asked Dan Henderson at 205 pounds , but it was not working . Alex Davis (his manager) asked if I wanted to fight ... so I accepted immediately. If you did not take this fight , what could I say to my kids when they grow up ? This is a man , so do not think twice . You have to fight . My only drawback is the short preparation time . Ideally you would have 3 more weeks. Good thing I will not cut weight. "
This type if you have guts. In only 3 weeks warned , Maldonado will face a tough test against a seasoned contender in his prime. Will he be able to surprise in his native Brazil ?
