Lakers Will qualify for the Western Conference Playoffs after All?

The Los Angeles Lakers were once destined to not only qualify for the Western Conference playoffs, but steamroll their way through to an NBA Finals appearance to square off with LeBron James and the Miami Heat. Although that’s not the case today, it’s only made them a more compelling NBA betting option.

Thanks to the offseason additions of Steve Nash and Dwight Howard, the Lakers were expected to be the golden answer to Miami’s Big Three. Several months of injuries, coaching transitions and questionable team chemistry later, L.A. finds themselves on the outside of the conference’s top eight looking in.

There is hope, however, something that wasn’t necessarily being talked about a month ago. Sitting just a handful of games back from the final playoff spot, the Lakers are in prime position to turn the NBA odds on their head yet again.

If they hope to live up to the 18/1 odds they have on the current NBA futures, they can’t waste any time. Coming off of a solid showing in February thus far, their momentum is the strongest it’s been this season.
With 18/1 odds on the NBA futures they’re far from the consensus West favorites they were at the beginning of the season, but they’ve never quite fallen off of the basketball betting radar altogether – so long as Kobe Bryant’s on board at the Staples Center, it’s hard to imagine that ever happening.

There was a time when it was a given that the Los Angeles Lakers would not only breeze their way into the Western Conference playoff picture, but make a deep postseason run and potentially win Kobe Bryant’s sixth NBA championship. Then there was a time where the opposite true. Now, as they sit somewhere in the middle, their NBA odds are more compelling than ever.
