The always loved or hated New England Patriots proved to be a serious contender once again this year with what seems to be an easy win over the Tennessee Titans in Week one. While the Arizona Cardinals also came out on top, but lost starting QB John Skelton to injury. So, this game could definitely turn out to be interesting for your online sportsbook. In the season opener for Denver, Peyton Manning showed everyone why he is still an elite quarterback and the Atlanta Falcons demolished the Chiefs, with a solid 40 point game. Online football betting can get very interesting when four teams are meeting and all of them have opened the season well. This could get interesting! Here are my thoughts.
Game 1: Arizona Cardinals at New England Patriots
Consider what I’ll write, and do your own research on this game, before making a decision and talking to your online bookie. The Patriots looked very strong against the Titans, and all logical sense points to them looking very strong again. Tom Brady was his usual amazing self, staying sharp with two touchdown passes and zero interceptions. Both all-start tight ends seemed to be in fine form, each catching one of Brady’s offerings. These were a given, other great points for the Pats came in rushing and defence- a lacking in the past couple of years. Ridley ran for 125 yards and the defence was very strong, including first round pick Dont’a Hightower who recovered a fumble and ran it back for six points. I saw all of this because it was an impressive game for New England. I really don’t think that a Cardinals team with a mediocre defence and an injured starting QB will have much of a chance. The always able Kevin Kolb will fill in, but I’m going to have to choose red, white and blue here.
My pick: The New England Patriots
Game 2: Denver Broncos vs. Atlanta Falcons
When it comes to sports betting, this one is a lot harder to call. Both offences looked great in their week one games. Both defences were also able to play very well and make big plays. The QB showings were wonderful. Peyton Manning stepping onto the field for a meaningful game for this first time in over 600 days and looked like the Peyton of old. Matt Ryan has a very impressive game, commanding many red-zone drives and throwing for 3 TDs. His offence, however, did settle for more field goals than they would have liked. I’m going to pick the Broncos in week 2. Both teams looked equally strong in their openers, but the Broncos defence make more game-changing plays and I cannot adequately assess the Falcons until they face a better team than the Chiefs.
My Pick: The Denver Broncos
