NBA Betting: Spurs, Thunder Ready To Battle in The West

NBA fans will tell you that it’s rare to see the two best teams in a conference go to battle for the right to go to the Finals, but many are saying that the Western Conference finals between Oklahoma City and San Antonio will really decide who the best team in the league is. The two will kick off their series on Sunday night in San Antonio.

Thunder vs. Spurs Odds – Sunday, 8:30 PM ET

A sports betting blog review of Oklahoma City’s 106-90 romp over the Los Angeles Lakers to close out their second-round series in five games should show a new maturity and a killer instinct that they haven’t had over the last two seasons, as they put their foot on the Lakers’ throats and never let up. Russell Westbrook carved the Lakers up for 28 points, while Kevin Durant added 25 points and 10 boards for the Thunder, who dominated the paint with a 51-35 edge on the glass as five players had six rebounds or more, led by 11 for Kendrick Perkins. Those that are familiar with a pay per head service know that the Thunder are wildly athletic, but now it seems like they have the grit to handle the pressure of the playoffs and that is dangerous.

The Spurs dropped the other team from Los Angeles, the Clippers, 102-99 for their second consecutive sweep in the playoffs as they got six players in double figures. Tim Duncan led the way with 21 points and nine rebounds, while Tony Parker was next with 17 points as the Spurs shot 52.8% from the field and whenever the Clippers started to make a run, the Spurs stopped them right away. Many of the best sports betting sites had San Antonio pegged as one of the teams that would be hurt by the shortened regular season, but they (and specifically, Coach of the Year Gregg Popovich) have done a brilliant job of integrating kids like Kawhi Leonard into the lineup and pacing themselves without losing many games and now they’re on the cusp of potentially completing their dynasty with another title.

San Antonio is a 5.5-point favorite at home against the Thunder, who dropped two of three against the Spurs during the regular season, and all three went over the posted total. These two are two of the most exciting and high-scoring teams in the regular season, which you would expect from the Thunder, but San Antonio has opened a lot of eyes with their play, but they’re still not getting respect. Look for the Spurs to come out with guns blazing and earn a victory over the Thunder when you lay a sports bet on Sunday.
