If you ask anyone with an online sportsbook, they will tell you that NFL football is a fantastic sport to bet on. Football betting can be lazy- you only have to pay attention on one day a week, sometimes, and all the games happen at once. You get all the stress over with, in a few short hours. A problem does present itself, however, when it comes to betting on football.
As you approach your online bookie, it can be increasingly difficult to choose which games to bet on. All of the teams play at once! Some strong teams and playing, some weak, but how does one choose? Well, that’s what I’m here for. Each week I keep my eye on a few games that interest me. I look for games with some fanfare, as they will be exciting to watch, but also games with clear betting lines and the opportunity to make some money. So here we go, get to your betting news websites and let’s get started.
Game 1: Green Bay Packers at Houston Texans 8:20 PM EST
Aaron Rogers is one of the most popular players in the league today, and has for a few years, held one of the highest selling jerseys in the game. This has always make the Packers even more popular- not just with cheese heads. Despite lackluster performance this season, they are still one of the most feared teams in the NFL, and one never knows when their offence will explode for 40 points in a half, or when the defence will completely shut down the opposing team. Houston, although very talented, has been a surprise this season. They are playing extremely well this season; they have the number one defence in the league and are seventh best when it comes to rushing. They are betting in every major category than the Packer, yet predictions are still even between the teams. These Packers have spunk, heart and oodles of talent unseen this year.
My Pick: The Houston Texans
Game 2: Buffalo Bills at Arizona Cardinals 4:05 PM EST
Each of these teams came into week five with records to be expected- Arizona leading their division and Buffalo doing fine, but not good or great. Week five, though, these two teams were shockingly bad. The Cardinals were held to only three points against their division rival Rams. The Bills also only tallied three points; they were completely blown out by the San Francisco 49ers, losing by 42 points. The Bills have had a respectable offence this year, especially when it comes to rushing, but hadn’t really faced a great defence until meeting the Niners last week. The Cards will be looking to get back on track, and should have the defence to do it. The only worry for them is the possibility of a rushing explosion from one of Buffalo’s many weapons in the backfield.
