The Auburn Tigers and Northwestern Wildcats will square-off for the first time in history in the Outback Bowl on New Year's Day in Tampa, FL. The Tigers will return to the bowl for the first time in 14 years while this will be the Wildcats first appearance in the bowl.Northwestern upset Wisconsin 33-31 at Ryan Field in Week 12.
Northwestern covered as a 7-point home underdog in that contest, while the final score played OVER the 48.5-point total.

Outback Bowl officials have announced an agreement to extend its contract with the BigTen Conference through the 2013 college football season. The bowl will continue to have the third pick of teams from the conference to play on New Year's Day in Tampa, Florida.
