Manchester City yesterday intensified its bid for Kaka to increase its offer to Milan to more than double the world record and received the go-ahead to negotiate directly with the footballer.
Milan announced on its television channel that is considering a new offer that reportedly reached 120 million euros (157 million dollars) by the Brazilian attacker.
Kaka said Wednesday he wants to stay with the club rossonero, but the player's spokesman Diego Kotscho told the AP yesterday that the Brazilian has not rejected the approach of the City.
"It's an exaggeration to what is said in England that the deal is almost closed, and an exaggeration (to say) that Kaká rejected the offer," said Kotscho. "The Milan authorized negotiations with Manchester City ... The next step now is for the father of Kaká talk to Manchester City. "
Bosco Leite, Kaka's father and his principal adviser, may soon be traveling to England to study the offer of the City, Kotscho said.
The director of the Milan TV channel, Mauro Suma, said the club is considering the irresistible offer from the City star for his 26 years.
"There is an offer from Manchester City for the Milan Kaká and is considering," said Sum. "That does not mean that we are considering a decision was taken or accepted."
Mark Hughes, Manchester City technician commented that keeps hopes to sign Kaka, while his assistant said that the English club and Milan are close to reaching an agreement.
Hughes said that the negotiations will continue until the market closed on February 2.
"We have been discussing this for several months and Kaká was in our plans from the beginning," said Hughes.
If the transfer is made, would exceed the previous world record of 65 million euros Real Madrid paid Juventus for Zinedine Zidane in 2001.
Kaka, chosen by FIFA as the best footballer in the world in 2007, acknowledged that the last word is Milan.
