17 Years Old Hercules in China.


The Chinese Long Qingquan today won the gold medal of halterofilia in the category of 56 kilograms of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

With only 17 years old, the new Chinese Hercules lifted 132 kilos in the booted and set two new world records with a youth uprising in two stages of 160 kilos.

The total of 292 kilograms Long also surpassed the world junior record of 288 kg, which had beaten two minutes before the bronze medalist, the Indonesian Eko Irawan.

The Asian champion, Vietnamese Hoang Anh Tuan, won the silver medal with a total of 290 kg.

For his part, the Cuban Sergio Alvarez was close to the podium in sixth place with a total of 272 kg, behind the Taiwanese Chin-Yi Yang (285 kg) and the North Korean Cha Kum Chol (283 kg), world champion ended the day as the big loser because they expected at least a podium out of their muscles.

The other Latino representative who fought for a medal was the Colombian Sergio Rada, who was in the twelfth place after lifting 252 kilos.

Long Qingquan, barely 1.56 metres and 56 kilos, won his first major title in what might be considered the birth of a new giant of the halterofilia.
