AC Milan got goals from Clarence Seedorf, Gianluca Zambrotta, Alexandre Pato and Kaka as they defeated Lazio 4-1. "We realized over these past few days that we're not just great single players, but a strong group," AC Milan’s Kaka said. "You've already seen some improvement and you're going to see more over the next few games." AC Milan faces Reggina on Wednesday and Inter Milan over the weekend.
In the Champions League Inter Milan beat Panathinaikos 2-0 and Juventus got a 1-0 win over Zenit St. Petersburg. "Inter is the team to beat, but we're pretty good too," Juventus coach Claudio Ranieri said.
Chelsea and Manchester United played to a 1-1 draw on Sunday and both teams came away from the game feeling differently. Chelsea is battered and bruised while United is encouraged. Chelsea will be without defender Ricardo Carvalho who is out for up to a month with a knee injury and Deco will miss two weeks because of a torn thigh muscle. Chelsea is already without midfielder Michael Essien who is out for months.
Manchester United feels very encouraged after their draw at Chelsea. "That was definitely a point gained for us and was an answer to our critics," said United’s Wayne Rooney. "As soon as we saw the fixture list we knew it was going to be a tough start to the season. We have just had three really hard games, possibly our toughest of all. Now we have got them out of the way, hopefully we can go on a run."
Manchester United nearly ended Chelsea’s 85-match unbeaten home record but they were still pleased to come away with a draw. "Chelsea have a really good record here, so although we were in front for quite a long time and did well, a draw was a good result and probably quite fair given how the game went," Rooney said. "I had a half-chance before they equalized which I might have done a bit better with. But it wasn't to be and overall we did well."

Once he is fully fit he will soon start producing his best form again."
United is not anywhere near the top of the Premier League standings but they have the most difficult part of their schedule behind them and now will start getting players to full strength and that spells trouble for the rest of the league, including Chelsea.

The House Financial Services Committee today approved Barney Frank’s third installment of the Payment Systems Protection Act, HR 6870. The bill was accepted by a 30-to-19 vote.
The new version of the payments protection act, which was introduced last Thursday by Mr. Frank, calls for the Treasury Department and the Federal Reserve Board, in consultation with the attorney general, to devise a formal process for defining what types of Internet gambling are unlawful.
At the bill markup this afternoon, Mr. Frank argued for further clarification of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006, or UIGEA. He said that a fundamental principle of American law is that citizens should be able to understand the law.
In response to one of the bill's main opponents' suggestion that legalizing online gambling would mean the government encouraged such activities, Mr. Frank said things shouldn't be observed in just two classes -- those being things that are illegal, and things that the government encourages.
"Some will abuse it, but some will abuse anything," he went on to say about Internet gambling.
During today’s discussion, Spencer Bachus, an Alabama Republican and the committee's ranking Republican member, swiftly denounced the bill and mentioned it was "disappointing" to be voting on it again. Previously, the committee had voted against a similar bill in June that was introduced by Mr. Frank and Ron Paul, a Libertarian Texas Republican.
However, he said he was happy for the "more targeted" bill though still couldn’t support it.

Defending champion Manchester United begins Champions League play on Wednesday as group stage play gets underway. United faces Villarreal on Wednesday and it is possible that Cristiano Ronaldo will make his return to the team for that match. Ronaldo has missed the start of the Soccer betting Premier League season as he recovers from ankle surgery. Champions League runner-up Chelsea begins play on Tuesday as they face Bordeaux. Chelsea is in Group A which includes AS Roma, Bordeaux and Romanian Champions League newcomers CFR Clujnapoca. "For me, the Champions League is not more important than the Carling Cup," said Chelsea manager Luiz Felipe Scolari, "It is important but it is not more important than a league game. We need to think game by game. If I say the Champions League is the most important then my players will ask why they need to bother in the other games."
